Using CICS at CNS
This page is intended to provide answers to some of the most common
questions asked by users of CICS at CNS.
- Do users of CICS at CNS incur any
charges?
- How do I go about
obtaining a CNS user-id?
- Who do I see within my own
college/department
to obtain a CNS account?
- How do I gain access to the
UF Menu System and FLAIR(formerly SAMAS)?
- How do I find out what CICS applications are available?
Generally, the department which owns the data also controls
who can use the applications which access that data. For UF
applications, contact the
CICS Access Manager for the department whose applications you
are interested in. For UNF applications, contact the
Computing Services Department.
- Is there any
documentation on FLAIR available at UF?
- Can my PC or LAN-attached printer be used with CICS?
Yes, but it must first be defined to VTAM as an "LPR" printer.
You can request that your printer be defined this way using
this form.
-
Information on program products supported by the CNS
CICS systems staff.
- Who do I call when I encounter problems while using CICS?
- For terminal/communication problems, contact
CNS Network
Services at (352) 392-2061 (Suncom 622-2061).
If your department has a network support person, it would be a
good idea to check with them first, in case the source of the
problem is local to your building or office.
- For application problems or abends, contact the department that
owns the application. If you do not know which office owns
the application, then report it to the
CNS CICS Systems Staff at
(352) 392-2061 (Suncom 622-2061).
- Other available sources of help are:
- I understand that FLAIR is really a system in Tallahassee, rather
than something running at CNS; so who do I call when I am
having trouble using FLAIR?
- If the FLAIR transactions are not functioning correctly,
call the UF FLAIR Help Desk at
392-1324.
- If you are having trouble connecting to FLAIR, contact
CNS Network
Services at (352) 392-2061 (Suncom 622-2061).
